We are committed to providing treatment in a natural, child-led, and play based environment. We meet children where they are and adapt treatment goals to your child’s interests and abilities. Our SLPA’s provide ongoing support using neurodiversity affirming approaches, sensory integration, and individualized strategies in each session. Our therapists are skilled and certified in Natural Language Acquisition framework and gestalt language processing.
All initial appointments and treatment sessions are done in your home. We come to you!
If you would like your child to have treatment sessions within their daycare, please let us know and we can arrange to work within the daycare if possible. Please see our services page to find out what daycares we currently provide services in.
After you have joined our waitlist, we will contact you within 2 business days to confirm the referral. Families have the option to either complete the intake appointment at this point, or to wait until a treatment spot is available to have your intake session. After the intake appointment, parents are provided with an initial home program and goals they can work on while they are waiting for ongoing treatment.
During your initial appointment, our SLP Natalia will provide an informal, play-based speech-language assessment specific to your child’s profile. Initial appointments typically take 45-60 minutes. Based on the outcome of this assessment, we will collaboratively determine next steps including treatment, home programming, and parent training. All families are provided with home program plans and resources related to your child’s speech-language goals.
Typically, we would recommend 30-minute sessions for preschool children and articulation treatment. 45 to 60-minute sessions are recommended for gestalt language processors to allow time for connection and communication to grow.
Many families like to have a report on file or to share with other service providers involved in their child's care (e.g. teachers, occupational therapists, etc.). The report would include outcomes from the assessment, as well as general recommendations.
To give families the choice based on their own preference, we provide the option of an assessment visit with or without a formal report. This keeps the cost of the assessment down for those families who don't require a report, while still providing the option to families who do want one. Please see our services page for more information on fees.
Consultation and caregiver training appointments are provided by our SLP, Natalia. These appointments are primarily offered to educate parents on strategies, tools, and resources recommended to families to improve their child’s communication. We provide a variety of caregiver training including Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) tutorials and individualized set-up of your child’s AAC device. Please contact us with any questions on your specific training needs.
A typical therapy session with Windsor Speech is an individual session focused on your child’s speech-language goals as determined during the initial appointment. The frequency and length of therapy sessions will range depending on the specific needs of your child and will be determined after your initial appointment.
